FAQ Power Stations
What is the difference between a portable power station and a smaller power bank?
The main difference is in the capacity and the connections. A Power Station almost always has one or more plug connections, and enough power to connect all kinds of devices.
As a result, Power Stations are larger in size, in contrast to normal power banks. These are focused on portability and more suitable for (air) travel.
How long will it take for my PPS to charge?
There are several ways to charge the PPS. With a 60W USB-C PD charger it is full in about 6 hours, and when charged via the 72W DC input, it is fully charged in about 5.5 hours.
How can my PPS charge?
There are several ways to charge the PPS. The Power Station comes with several charging cables:
• A regular charger with a plug for charging at home
• A charger with a 12V car connection (cigarette lighter connection)
• MC4 cable for use in combination with a solar panel
The Power Station can also be charged with a USB-C PD charger and cable. (Not included)
How do I calculate which products I can charge or use with my PPS? (Like TV)
It is important to consider the wattage of the product you would like to connect.
Is it lower than 300W? Then it is no problem to connect it to the PPS.
Are you curious about how long your device can be supplied with power by the PPS? Then use this calculation:
175 / (enter wattage of your device) = number of hours of power supply
What does ‘Watt’ mean?
We use the expression "Watt" to explain a way of fast charging. Below you can find the differences.
10 t/m 12 watts
Most chargers without fast charging, have an output of 10 or 12 watts. This is fine for smartphones and tablets, at normal speed.
15 t/m 18 watts
We're fast charging from 15 watts. You can fast charge your iPhone from 15 watts.
19 t/m 30 watts
Only a few Android smartphones and the iPad Pro can be charged till 30 watts. When a devices can only charge till 18 watts fast charging, the Xtorm power bank or Xtorm adapter will automatically provide only 18 watts.
31 t/m 60 watts
You use these fast chargers for laptops. Chromebooks and small MacBooks are being charged with at least 45 watts.
61 t/m 100 watts
The MacBook Pro 13" needs 61 watts input, while the MacBook Pro 15" needs 87 watts.
What is “Pure Sine Wave” (Pure Sine Wave and what can I do with it?
The Xtorm Portable Power Station has a plug connection with a pure sine wave, but why is this important?
To prevent it from becoming too long and technical, we will try to keep it as simple as possible.
There are two terms that are important in this story:
1. Pure sine wave
2. Modified sine wave
The difference between these two is easiest to make clear by comparing it with water.
Pure water, as you expect from the tap at home, can be used for all kinds of things. For drinking, washing, cooking, cleaning, etc.
But what if the water were less pure? Then it is not useless, but it is less useful. For example, you can probably clean and wash with it, but not drink or cook food.
The difference between a pure and modified sine wave is similar. A pure sine wave works with all devices, but a modified “impure” sine wave will not. With a radio or television, you will notice that you hear a hum or get disturbances in your image. If you connect a device that contains a motor, it will probably not work at all.
All (old-fashioned) devices that contain a transformer also cause problems. A well-known example that can go wrong is the electric toothbrush chargers. In most cases, it breaks immediately.
Why then are there Power Stations with a modified sine wave? That's for one reason only: they're cheaper to make.
Xtorm consciously chooses the pure sine wave to guarantee quality and usability.

Can I charge other Xtorm Powerbanks with the Portable Power Station?
This is certainly possible, with one of the USB or USB-C connections.
Can I charge the Portable Power Station via my car (car plug 12V) connection? (tips so that the car battery is not broken / empty)
Yes this is possible, you can use the supplied cable for this.
Can I connect the Portable Power Station to a solar panel to charge via sunlight?
Yes this is possible. The Portable Power Station also comes with an MC4 adapter cable, so that multiple types of solar panels can be connected.
Make sure that your solar panel does not supply more than 26V, otherwise the Power Station will be damaged.
How long does it take to charge the Portable Power Station XP300 from the wall socket (AC cable)?
It is fully charged in about 5.5 hours
How long does it take for the Portable Power Station XP300 to be charged via the USB-C Power Delivery port?
It is fully charged in about 6 hours
What is the noise level of the Portable Power Station XP300?
If the Power Station gets too hot, the cooling fan switches on. This gives a slightly humming sound, but is much quieter than comparable Power Stations.
Can I charge my car battery with the Portable Power Station XP300? (Electric car)
No, the PPP is not suitable for this.
Can I start my car battery with the Portable Power Station XP300?
No, the PPP is not suitable for this.
What is the best way to store / store my Portable Power Station for optimal maintenance? (Fully loaded or not, which place, etc.)
The Portable Power Station is best stored in a dry place at living room temperature.
Temperatures below 0 ° C and above 40 ° C are not recommended. This has a negative effect on the capacity and life of the batteries.
To keep the battery in optimal condition when not in use, please recharge between 3-6 months.
Is it safe to store my Portable Power Station in the car? (heat from the car)
Temperatures below 0 ° C and above 40 ° C are not recommended. This has a negative effect on the capacity and life of the batteries.
Can I use my Portable Power Station as an emergency power supply when the power is out at home?
This is certainly possible. Of course, this depends on the type of devices you want to connect, and for how long they need to be supplied with power.
Is a cable included for connecting to a solar panel?
A solar panel can be connected directly to the PPS with a DC cable, or with the supplied MC4 cable.
Does the Portable Power Station use pure sine wave or modified sine wave?
The PPS uses a “pure sine wave”, or pure sine wave
Is the Portable Power Station (splash) waterproof? Dustproof? Sand etc.
Since the PPS must be well ventilated, it is unfortunately not water or dust tight
Is there a warranty on my Portable Power Station? When and when not? Overload?
There is a two-year warranty on the functionality of the PPS, with normal use.
How long does a power bank last / lifecycles etc.
The power bank can be charged 500x from 0 to 100%. After this, the capacity of the batteries decreased to about 80%.
Please note - if you load the PPS from, for example, 60% to 100%, this does not count as 1x lifecycle. This charging of 40% therefore only counts as a 0.4 lifecycle.
What do I get with my XP300?
In addition to the Power Station, you also get multiple cables to charge the power bank in all kinds of situations - at home, with a solar panel, or in the car
What is the capacity - explanation of Mah / wH
The capacity is 281Wh, or 78,000mAh
What is an MC4 connector exactly?
This is a connection often used by solar panels.
Is the PPS allowed on the plane?
There is a limit on battery capacity that can be taken on board the plane. This is at 100Wh.
The PPS has a capacity of 281Wh, so unfortunately is not allowed on the plane.
